Frequently asked Questions

What is the GBA?

The GBA is a volunteer, not for profit umbrella group representing 21 resident associations and 4,400 families on the eastern and northern shores of Georgian Bay and the adjacent lakes and water bodies. The association was founded in 1916.

Who Belongs to the GBA?

Technically, GBA's membership is defined as its 21 member associations . However, the interests of all 4,400 members of these associations are represented by GBA, and a portion of the annual fee paid to local associations goes to GBA in support of its many initiatives and projects.

In addition, GBA now accepts both Corporate and Individual Members( living outside of our member association areas) who support our policies and programs.

How Does the GBA Operate?

GBA's activities are run by volunteer Board of Directors . The only paid person is a full-time executive director. Board members are selected based on GBA's desire for regional representation as well as the need for a broad range of interests and experience.

GBA holds an Annual General Meeting each year in Toronto, Ontario. All members of associations represented by GBA are welcome to attend this meeting.

How do I join?

Please join one of our member associations .  If your Georgian Bay cottage association is not a member of GBA, please contact us .
