Member Association Page - SSCA

Sans Souci and Copperhead Association:

  • The Sans Souci and Copperhead Association was founded in 1903 and incorporated in 1927. With some 500 member families, it is the second largest association in both the Georgian Bay Association and the Township of the Archipelago.

The SSCA had a leadership role in the formation of the Township, the GBA Foundation, the Georgian Bay Association, and the Georgian Bay Land Trust. The SSCA was also very active in discussions concerning the establishment of Massasauga Park, and since then, has continued to engage all three levels of government concerning public policies affecting the ecological health of Georgian Bay.

Local Issues and Projects

The SSCA also operates a community centre. Its property holdings now include approximately 10 acres of land on Frying Pan Island, six buildings, and a substantial number of docks.

Summer activities include a day camp, yoga classes, occasional lectures on such topics as fire prevention and wildlife, ecumenical Sunday church services, an annual regatta and arts and crafts show and an annual members meeting. Its facilities are open to members as well as the general public.

A limited supply of SSCA crested apparel, baked goods and concessions can be found at the Dock House at our main dock and tennis is available through the Sans Souci Tennis Club, a private group.

The SSCA is very active in public and community issues and publishes a member newsletter several times a year with a particular focus on environmental issues, and a membership directory/yearbook.
