Local Issues and ProjectsThe narrow channels leading to and from the South Channel provide reduced water flushing, and exacerbate our water quality issues. Our neighbors include the Wasauksing Band (Parry Island) and Massasauga Provincial Park, both of whom have initiated “land claims” that so far have been amicably resolved.Boat traffic in our narrow channels is a concern. Speed, size and number of boats are an ongoing issues.Water levels remain a major concern; the South Channel navigability itself is threatened by the current low levels, and many bays are suffering from reduced flushing and starving wetlands.
