Blackstone Lake Association
:
- Blackstone Lake is a deep, clear, oligotrophic and relatively undeveloped lake that is home for lake trout and muskellunge. The lake’s rocky shores host 120 cottages and 2 marinas. The Blackstone Lake Association (BLA) was formed in 1971 when the province decided to establish an organized municipality from what was then unorganized territory. The BLA worked with others – including the Georgian Bay Association – to establish the Township of the Archipelago. The BLA continues to represent the lake’s cottage and commercial ratepayers.
Local Issues and Projects
Key issues for the BLA include:
• Supporting the Township of the Archipelago as a stand alone municipality that is sensitive the needs of seasonal and year-round ratepayers;
-
Ensuring that development of surrounding lands is consistent with a shared vision of the lake as a high quality cottaging environment;
-
Promoting good lake stewardship to protect water quality, the fishery and the environment as a whole;
-
Working together to ensure ratepayers can enjoy their properties safely and securely;
-
Supporting broader efforts to maintain quality of cottage life through membership in the Georgian Bay Association.
